Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 3, 2026

IndieHelm ("we," "us," or "our") operates the IndieHelm mobile application and the website at indiehelm.com (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Service. Please read it carefully. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide to us:

Information we collect automatically:

2. How We Use Your Information

3. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK Users)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal data on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (to provide the Service you request), legitimate interests (to secure, improve, and market the Service in ways that do not override your rights), consent (e.g., for optional push notifications or marketing emails, which you may withdraw at any time), and legal obligation (e.g., tax and record-keeping requirements related to payments).

4. Payments, Purchases & Subscriptions

Payments are processed by third parties, not by us directly:

Creator subscriptions are auto-renewing: they continue each month until you cancel, and you can manage or cancel them in your App Store or Google Play account settings. We receive transaction confirmations and status (such as whether a subscription is active) but not your full payment details.

5. Advertising

The Service may show advertising, including video "pre-roll" ads before certain films and premieres and sponsored cards in the feed. Ads are served in two ways: (a) directly sold advertisements whose creative we host, and (b) advertising delivered through Google AdMob. We record basic impression and click events to measure performance. We do not sell your personal information to advertisers. Where required (for example, Apple's App Tracking Transparency), we will request your permission before engaging in any cross-app tracking; if you do not grant it, we do not track you across other apps or websites. You will not see pre-roll ads on films you have purchased or that you own.

6. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information and content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we must retain certain information to comply with legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution obligations. Transaction records may be retained as required by law.

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), database row-level security, access controls, and PCI-compliant payment processors. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Some content on IndieHelm is intended for adults; content marked as mature is hidden from viewers who have not enabled mature content, and you must be of the age of majority in your jurisdiction to view it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact privacy@indiehelm.com and we will delete it promptly.

10. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights: to access the personal data we hold about you; to correct inaccurate data (much of which you can edit directly in your profile settings); to delete your account and associated personal data; to export your data in a portable format; to object to or restrict certain processing; and to withdraw consent at any time. You can disable push notifications in your device settings, and unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in each message.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and disclose it, to request deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell your personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

To exercise any right, email privacy@indiehelm.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

11. International Data Transfers

We and our service providers may process and store your information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers.

12. Third-Party Links

The Service may link to third-party sites or services (for example, when sharing a film or opening an advertiser's website). We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to review their policies.

13. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no common industry standard for responding to these signals, our website does not currently respond to them.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version and revise the "Last updated" date above, and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
