IndieHelm exists so independent filmmakers can share their work and build a real audience. These guidelines describe the behavior and content we expect from everyone on the platform — creators and viewers alike — so it stays a place people actually want to make and watch films. They work alongside our Terms of Service, which are the binding legal rules; these guidelines explain the spirit behind them in plain language.
Disagree with a film, a review, or a comment all you like — but harassment, bullying, hate speech, or targeted threats against any person or group are never allowed, on films, in comments, in DMs, or in a premiere's live chat.
Only upload films, footage, music, and audio you own or are licensed to use. Give credit where it's due, and don't upload someone else's work as your own.
Content that sexualizes minors, depicts real-world violence or self-harm, promotes terrorism or illegal activity, or that violates the law is removed immediately and may be reported to the relevant authorities.
Strong language, intense violence, or sexual themes are welcome as part of independent storytelling — just mark the film as mature when you upload it, so viewers who haven't opted in don't see it in their feed or in Discover.
Don't post spam, phishing links, malware, or use fake engagement (bots, purchased likes/follows, etc.) to inflate your numbers. Impersonating another creator or misrepresenting who made a film isn't allowed.
Live premiere chat rooms follow the same rules as anywhere else on IndieHelm. Hosts can moderate their own screening room, and repeated disruption of premieres can result in a suspension.
Every profile and film has a report option, and you can block or mute anyone whose content or behavior you don't want to see. Reports are reviewed by our team — using the report tool to harass someone or make bad-faith claims is itself a guidelines violation.
Depending on severity, we may remove the content, issue a warning, temporarily restrict an account, or permanently ban repeat or serious offenders. Serious violations (illegal content, exploitation of minors) are removed immediately with no warning.
Use the in-app report button on the specific film, comment, or profile so our team has the right context, or email us directly.
Email support@indiehelm.com for anything urgent, or use the report button in the app for content-specific issues.
These guidelines may be updated from time to time as the community grows. Continued use of IndieHelm after changes take effect means you accept the revised guidelines.
